- Minister Lee Jong-ho checked office environments and local conditions with Yoon Youngbin, the newly appointed Administrator of KASA

On May 1, Minister of Science and ICT, Lee Jong Ho, visited the temporary headquarters of the Korea AeroSpace Administration (KASA) in Sacheon City, Gyeongsangnam-do to oversee the final preparations for the agency's upcoming inauguration. Accompanying him were key figures, including Yoon Youngbin and Rho Kyungwon, the newly appointed Administrator and Deputy Administrator of KASA, whose roles are pivotal in ensuring the seamless launch of KASA as planned, following their official appointments on April 24.

After the passage of the Aerospace Administration Special Act by the National Assembly on January 9, the government issued the relevant Enforcement Decree and established the organizational structure in March. The administration’s operating budget for 2024 has been secured through reserve funds facilitating the initial setup of KASA. Recruitment efforts are underway to attract top-tier talent from academia, industry, and research sectors, aiming to build an innovative organization led by experts.

During his visit, Minister Lee thoroughly inspected the temporary office space where KASA staff will work and received updates on the ongoing preparations and plans for the office setup. He also met with local officials from Gyeongsangnam-do and Sacheon City to discuss support policies and living conditions in preparation for KASA’s opening.

Minister Lee emphasized, “The establishment of KASA marks the beginning of South Korea's ascent to becoming a global leader in space. In response to the high expectations of many citizens for a successful inauguration, I urge everyone involved to dedicate their full efforts to ensure the successful launch of KASA.”
