The Ministry of Science and ICT (“MSIT”; Minister Lee Jong-Ho) announced that Mina Seonmin Jun, Policy Advisor of the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI), was elected as the Vice Chair of the Council Working Group on WSIS*&SDGs** (“CWG-WSIS&SDG”).

Ms. Jun is responsible for research on international cooperation in the ICT sector at KISDI. She served as the Chair of the Working Group of the Plenary meetings at the 2022 World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-22) and the Chair of Committee 5 (COM 5) at the 2022 Plenipotentiary Conference (PP-22) and is currently the Vice Chair of ITU-D Study Group 2 (SG 2 Digital Transformation).
It is the first time since 2013 that a Korean representative was elected to an ITU CWG. As discussions on supporting the UN’s SDG implementation are under way and the WSIS+20 is scheduled for 2025, it is expected that Ms. Jun will contribute to helping Korea lead relevant discussions based on her expertise and experience.
