The Ministry of Science and ICT (“MSIT”; Minister Lee Jong-ho) and Korea Communications Agency (“KCA”; President Jung Han Keun) will be hosting an event from April 17 (Mon) to 19 (Wed), on the sideline of the Sixth Cannes International Series Festival, to promote Korea’s OTT (over-the-top) content and support their export to foreign markets.

The festival’s non-competition Rendez-vous section, sponsored by the MSIT, will be held at Espace Miramar, a local theater, on April 19 (Wed). The event will present the following series:
- Midnight Horror: 6 Different Nights, an omnibus of horror stories experienced by six young women (Kortop Media)
- Pale Moon, a thriller about an ordinary housewife who lands a new job and meets a young love interest (KT Studiogenie)
- Island, a love story between “Van” and “Won Mi-ho” who fight the evil on Jeju Island (Studio Dragon)

Korean OTT Showcase will be held on April 17 (Mon) at Riviera 8, a Cannes event venue, to present new competitive OTT content proposals in order to attract foreign investments and offer international joint production opportunities. At the event, six OTT proposals, including OTT-tailored content proposals sponsored by the MSIT, will be presented to foreign broadcasters, investors and production companies.

The Korean Special Screening, which will be held on April 18 (Tue) at P3 Auditorium A, will invite foreign broadcasters, investors and production companies. The event was created this year to promote the excellence of Korean OTT content on the global stage and foster opportunities of overseas export.

The MSIT is going to have a meeting with Chair Fleur Pellerin (former French Minister of Culture from 2014 to 2016) to promote the excellence of Korean OTT content and explore how to expand cooperation.

The MSIT said, “The Cannes International Series Festival has provided a venue for showcasing the excellence of Korean OTT series on the international stage and paved the way for them to go abroad.

“As the competition with international content providers is becoming fiercer, overseas export of digital media and content is becoming more important. The MSIT will continue to cooperate with the Cannes International Series Festival to make Korean OTT content more globally known, and provide ample support so that Korean OTT content can lead the global market.”
