The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT, Minister: Lee Jong-Ho) co-hosted the opening ceremony of the ‘CTCN Partnership and Liaison Office’ on July 21 with the UN and the city of Incheon.

The Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) is a UN affiliated international organization that arranges technology cooperation among nations to fight climate change. Korea office is the world’s first regional liaison office of CTCN other than the headquarter in Denmark, and it will serve to facilitate the network of climate technology in the Asia-Pacific region.

As the National Designated Entity (NDE) of Korea, officially chosen by the UN under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UN FCCC), MSIT will make full-fledged efforts to help domestic CTCN member organizations to participate in the climate technology cooperation projects.

A Committee for Climate Technology Cooperation also launched at the ceremony with an aim to transfer Korean climate technologies to foreign countries.

Minister Lee Jong-Ho of Science and ICT said “We are pleased to host the world’s first CTCN Partnership and Liaison Office and will fully support the activities of the Office to overcome the global climate crisis through climate technology cooperation. Based on Korea’s excellent climate technology and technology transfer capacity, continuous efforts will be made by the Korean Government to actualize the developed country-developing country climate technology cooperation model.”
