The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT, Minister: Lim Hyesook) announced key achievements of the regulatory sandboxes and shared interviews of companies benefited from them, in the celebration of the third anniversary of the ICT regulatory sandbox program.
As of now, the government approved 135 projects out of 166 applications as the targets for the regulatory sandboxes. Among them, 77 emerging technologies and services have been launched. Such approved projects saw a noticeable increase in sales and the number of service users, earning 68.8 billion won in revenues. These projects also contributed to job creation by adding additional 1,549 people across the society, and attracted 107.6 billion won of investment.
In addition, 56 approved projects including a taxi-sharing service, a kitchen-sharing service, and a contactless telco subscription service saw regulation amendments, under which all entities can enjoy the same legal benefits.
MSIT said that the regulatory sandboxes showed great outcomes in the past three years, and called for keen interest on projects of 2022.
