MSIT announces the 2022 R&D Action Plan

The Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT, Minister: Lim Hyesook) announced the ‘Science, Technology, and ICT R&D Action Plan’ that includes 6.42 trillion won (approx. 5.4 billion dollar) funding plan in R&D projects. Also, to secure its position as a leading technology powerhouse of the world, and to accelerate nation-wide digital transformation, the ministry selected 11 key technologies in the field of science technology and ICT.

Under the Action Plan, MSIT will secure core technologies to go carbon neutral and promote R&D of such innovative fields as quantum and bio technologies. The ministry will also support space and aviation core technologies such as KPS development and Nuri rocket launch. Moreover, the ministry will prioritize R&D projects that aims to secure Critical Strategic Technologies in the digital sector including AI, 6G, and cybersecurity. Along with the strategic priorities, MSIT will foster researchers by investing in R&D of basic science and future technologies to strengthen research capability.

MSIT announced new projects and timelines of the projects selected according to the Action Plan on January 3, and will give more detailed information on January 25 at the joint meeting on the R&D Action Plan.
