- Strengthening international cooperation through the
ASOCIO Digital Summit on November 14-15
- MSIT hosts a conference on recent trends in digital
innovation policy, strategies, technologies, and market insights
The Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Lee Jong Ho, hereinafter
referred to as 'MSIT') announced that MSIT hosted the ASOCIO Digital Summit
2023*, a conference for discussing exchanges and cooperation strategies in the
era of deepening digitalization with the Asian-Oceanian region digital industry
associations.
* The
ASian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) Digital Summit is an
annual international meeting and conference series, hosted by member countries
in rotation. The event serves as a platform for sharing and learning about
policies, strategies, technologies, markets, and case studies regarding digital
innovation within the Asian region.

ASOCIO, or the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization, is an
international organization consisting of information industry associations from
24 countries in the Asian-Oceanian region. This year, ASOCIO Digital Summit
2023 had been decided to be jointly organized with MSIT.
To partake in this Summit, over 200 government officials, business
leaders, and institution representatives in Asia, including ASOCIO Chairperson
Brian Shen, have visited Korea. The participants explored action plans for digital
development and cooperation opportunities in Asia.
This year's Summit, titled "Digital Asia: Our Vision for Common Prosperity,"
conveys specific topics such as "Digital Government & Public
Innovation," "Sustainable Growth of Digital Tech Industry,"
"Digital Transformation Service," and "AI & Data Service
Strategy," bringing together experts from Asian governments, businesses,
and institutions.
From Korea, Naver Cloud, IBM Korea, Samsung SDS, LG CNS, WooKyong
Information Technology, Lemon HealthCare, and more, participated, while from
abroad, Japanese Digital Agency, Singaporean Government Technology Agency
(GovTech), the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM), Indian Tata
Consultancy Services (TCS), Thai Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), and
Amazon Web Services (AWS) attended the Summit, providing presentations in the
event.
MSIT, for its part, delivered a keynote speech in the morning of November
14th, encouraging participants to provide support for Korea's
efforts in establishing a new digital order and the promotion of the Digital
Bill of Rights in the international community. In the speech, key details of
the Digital Bill of Rights, announced on September 26th, were
shared.
ASOCIO Chairperson Brian Shen emphasized in his opening remarks, "For
the promotion of digital transformation in the Asia region, Korea's role and moves
are very significant as a leading digital nation." He requested Korea to
actively engage in exchanging its experiences and insights in digital innovation,
which is crucial for Asia's challenge of utmost importance, the "digital
transformation."
Deputy Minister Kang Do Hyeon of MSIT Office of Network Policy stated
that, "Korea, in response to the era of deepening digitalization, has
formulated the Digital Bill of Rights which stipulates national-level fundamental
principles in the digital era. MSIT has shared it with various countries and
discussed Korea's role in the international community with an aim to realize a
digital shared prosperity society." He further stated, "We are
dedicated to sharing our experiences and
supporting international cooperation initiatives in order to stimulate digital
transformation and innovation in the region."
