- Symposium: Presenting 1,326 papers from 28 countries with outstanding research results at home and abroad in the field of nanotechnology.
- Exhibition: A total of 661 spaces are exhibited by 356 companies and organizations including Samsung, LG, and more.

The Ministry of Science and ICT (Minister Lee Jong Ho, here in after referred to as 'MSIT') and the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (Minister Ahn Duk Geun, here in after referred to as 'MOTIE') announced that NANO KOREA 2024 will be held at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1 from Wednesday, July 3 to Friday, July 5. It will take a view of global trends and issues in nanotechnology and exhibit stellar achievements.

NANO KOREA 2024, which celebrates its 22nd anniversary this year, is the largest place for interchange and cooperation between researchers in the Nano field and nano-fusion companies in Korea. It is one of the top three Nano events* in the world.

※ Slogan of NANO KOREA 2024: Invisible Nano Realizes the Future

This event is starting with an opening ceremony attended by about 20 key figures,
including Vice Minister Lee Chan Yun of MSIT, Deputy Minister of Industry Policy Bureau Lee Seung Ryeol of MOTIE, and National Assembly Member Choi Su Jin. Next, Director of the U.S. Lawrence Lovermore National Laboratory Kimberly S. Budil and President of Samsung Electronics Song Jae Hyeok will deliver a keynote address about the direction of nanotechnology innovation. An international symposium and Nano convergence exhibition will be held for the next three days.

■ [International Symposium] July 3 (WED) ~ July 5 (Fri) / 2nd and 3rd floor conference halls, KINTEX Exhibition Center 1

At the International Symposium, 1,326 papers from 28 countries will be presented through 20 sessions, including professional lectures in 16 major technology fields such as extreme materials, energy, and bio, topic lectures, poster sessions, collaboration sessions, and public sessions.

① Topic Lectures: The world's top authorities in the field of advanced materials, such as Institute Director Prof. Dr. Kornelius Nielsch (Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden, Germany), Prof. Xiaodong Chen (Nanyang Technological University, Singapore), and Prof. Jien-Wei Yeh (National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan), will lecture on major issues in the nanotechnology field and hold discussions with attendees.

② Poster Sessions: Young researchers will exhibit and present their research achievements (842 papers) in 16 technology fields. It is looked forward to promoting the morale by selecting and awarding stellar achievements.

③ Collaboration Sessions: The ACS Nano Summit 2024, hosted by the world-renowned American Chemical Society, will be held. More than 10,000 experts from around the world participate online and offline to present and share their research results.

④ Public Sessions: Free lectures for elementary, middle, and high school students and the general public, career education, and experimental programs are planned to be operated. Also, a mobile science museum (Lucerium Science School) will be installed within the exhibition hall for the first time this year to contribute to nurturing nanotechnology talent and spreading culture.

■ [Nano Convergence Exhibition] July 3 (WED) ~ July 5 (Fri) / Hall 4&5, 1F, KINTEX Exhibition Center 1

The Nano Convergence Exhibition is a large-scale joint exhibition encompassing the latest materials, parts, and equipment technologies centered on Nano. 356 domestic and foreign companies (organizations), including Samsung and LG, will exhibit various applications such as semiconductors, displays, batteries, and bio at a total of 661 booths. Nano-fusion products in the field are exhibited.

① Specialized Exhibition: Products in five fields will be exhibited, including Nano, adhesiveㆍcoatingㆍfilm, laser, ceramic, and sensors. In particular, Samsung and LG plan to attract interest from participants by introducing transparent display technologies and products introduced at CES 2024, held in Las Vegas, USA, in January this year. Moreover, nanoproducts scheduled to be exhibited overseas, including in the UK and the US, are intensively displayed through special exhibition halls on graphene, 2D nanomaterials, and eco-friendly materials.

② Nano Convergence R&D Publicity of Results Center: Stellar government R&D achievements (40 items) in core technology fields such as semiconductors, displays, bio, energy, and future cars will be exhibited.

At the same time, product trade consultations are held to connect companies with excellent nanotechnology. Also, meetings for technology exchange and discussion about products with consumers are held to resolve technological difficulties for companies.

■ Nanotechnology Research and Industry Awards

Lastly, awards are given to researchers and companies that have contributed to domestic nanotechnology research innovation and the development of the Nano-fusion industry.

In the field of research, Professor Kim Woo Yul (Korea Institute of Energy Technology) has made achievements such as 'Development of solar/renewable electricity-induced indoor cooking fume purification technology through kinetic analysis of Nano catalysts'.

In the industrial technology field, Micro2Nano, Inc., which submitted 'Probe Carb, an essential inspection device for semiconductor production,' won the Prime Minister's Award. The Minister of Science and Technology Award (6 points) and the Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy Award (6 points) are also awarded.

Vice Minister Lee Chang Yun of MSIT said, "The world is now in an era of global technological hegemony, where cutting-edge technology has an impact on national security, starting with strategic competition between the United States and China. It is an important time to spread innovation to all industrial fields beyond the semiconductor and display fields where nanotechnology has begun to sprout."

“Accordingly, the Ministry of Science and ICT will discover new Nano innovation technologies that will revolutionize the future 10 years from now, and establish and foster the so-called Nano 2.0 technology innovation strategy that reexamines the entire nanotechnology ecosystem.” he added.

Deputy Minister of Industry Policy Office Lee Seung Ryeol of MOTIE encouraged the challenge and innovation of the practicians, and evaluated that “Nano-fusion technology is gaining more importance as it greatly contributes to strengthening the competitiveness of our industry.” Lastly, “To ensure the stable growth of Nano-fusion technology, mainly Nano materials, it is planned to secure core technologies, support corporations to grow, create an ecosystem, and more in various ways.” he said.

Participation in NANO KOREA 2024 is possible after pre-registration or on-site registration. For the convenience of visitors, shuttle buses will be operated four times from Seoul Station to the event site during the event period. More detailed information, such as detailed schedules for each event, exhibition participating companies, and shuttle bus timetables, can be found on the NANO KOREA 2024 official (https://nanokorea.or.kr) website.
