In December 2023, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry recorded exports of $18.26 billion, imports of $10.94 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $7.31 billion.
The month saw a notable increase in ICT exports, achieving the highest monthly export performance in December 2023, driven by the consecutive double-digit growth of semiconductor exports, a key export item, for two months in a row.
By product category, semiconductors (19.3%↑) and displays (7.3%↑) experienced growth, while mobile phones (△1.0%), computers and peripherals (△29.6%), and communication equipment (△25.5%) showed declines.
Regionally, exports increased to China (including Hong Kong) by 16.3%, Vietnam by 4.3%, and the United States by 2.5%, while the European Union (△8.0%) and Japan (△2.7%) experienced decreases.
ICT imports amounted to $10.94 billion, reflecting a 7.2% decrease compared to the same month of the previous year, primarily due to reduced imports of key components such as semiconductors.
